What We’re Loving This Month: April at Salt & Honey
April has a way of easing us into the cooler months — a gentle shift in light, a slower pace, and a few sweet moments along the way. This month has been full of those small, grounding things that make our towns feel like home. And honestly, we’ve loved every bit of it.
(Plus, any month that starts with chocolate is already off to a strong start.)
Starting the Month with Easter Treats
There’s something special about beginning April with Easter — the colours, the sweetness, the sense of pause. Our stores were full of families popping in for a browse, a chat, and of course a little chocolate to take home.
It set such a warm tone for the month, and we loved seeing those small moments of joy walk out the door in pretty paper bags. (And yes… we may have sampled a few ourselves. Quality control, obviously.)
Taking Time to Remember the ANZACs
ANZAC Day always brings a moment of reflection. Whether you attended a dawn service, wore a poppy, or simply took a quiet moment at home, it’s a time that reminds us of courage, sacrifice, and community.
In small New Zealand towns, remembrance isn’t just a date on the calendar — it’s woven into the rhythm of the place. People gather, stories are shared, and there’s a softness in the air that feels both grounding and important.
It’s a reminder of what matters, and we’re grateful to be part of communities that hold that so close.
Looking Ahead: Winter Stock Is on Its Way
As we move toward the end of the month, we’re beginning to feel that familiar shift — the air cools, the colours deepen, and our winter stock starts making its way into all three stores.
Over the next couple of weeks you’ll see:
cosy knits and layers arriving in Foxton
rich winter colours and everyday staples landing in Feilding
warm, practical, rural‑friendly pieces heading into Hunterville
and of course, everything gradually appearing online too
It’s always exciting watching the first winter boxes arrive — a little preview of the season ahead. (And yes, we absolutely peek inside the moment they hit the counter. Who wouldn’t.)
A Month of Community, Quiet Moments, and Seasonal Change
April has been a gentle, grounding month for us. From Easter sweetness to ANZAC remembrance to the first whispers of winter, it’s been full of the small things that make our towns feel like home.
We’re looking forward to sharing the new season with you — in store, online, and in all the little moments in between.
